Cornwall juniors attend Future Elites

(Sport PEI) Thirty-four athletes from across the province, from different sports and different ages, and including an impressive number of curlers, many from the Cornwall Curling Club, attended Sport PEI’s seventh Future Elites event. The athletes all have one goal: get to the next level.

The group started off the day with Meagan Ferguson from Mind Matters, and looked at getting in the
zone. This was followed by fitness testing similar to “RBC Training Ground”. This group really stepped up to the plate and broke three of Synergy’s testing records.

Before lunch,  the athletes met USports & Canadian Jr. Women’s Wrestling Champion Hannah Taylor.  She told her of her journey from PEI to standing on top of the National podium.  Her message was, ” Always be the best version of yourself, in sport and life.”

After lunch, the group had a workout and a learning session on how to lift, push and pull.  Mark Arendz was a surprise guest and the athletes heard about his amazing Paralympic success, coming home with six medals.

Thanks to the 2009 Canada Games Legacy Fund for supporting Future Elites.
