Cornwall Cashspiel


Here's a CASHSPIEL for "the rest of us":  men's, women's, junior, senior, mixed, family, whatever.  This event is open to teams or members from other clubs.

When is it?  FRIDAY NOVEMBER 2ND and SATURDAY NOVEMBER 3RD

How much is it?  $120.00 Per Team (that's only $30.00 each)

How does it work?  Each team plays 3 games.  The winning team of each game gets $60.00.  So if you win two games, you've curled for free.  If you win 3 games, you've made a profit.  Even if you only win one game, you've got half your money back.  Whatever the outcome, you'll have had 3 great games of competitive curling.

8-end games.  First draw, Friday evening at 5.30pm.
Second draw at 8.00pm.  

Choose early or late draw, on a first-paid-first-choice basis, so you need to sign up fast!!

The teams from the first draw will play again on Saturday at 9.00am and 2.00pm.  

The teams from the second draw will play again on Saturday at 11.30am and 4.30pm.

Entry limited to 16 teams - don't be disappointed.  Sign-up deadline is October 31st or on "sell-out" whichever happens first.

Complimentary tea and coffee will be available throughout the event.

Saturday evening wrapup:

The final draws took place this afternoon at the Cornwall Cashspiel. This inaugural event was well-received by the 12 participating teams, as it gave them a chance to get in some valuable competition before the provincial championship season gets underway, and at a reasonable price ($120 per team).  Teams played three games, and took home $60 per win.

The final win-loss records were:

The team of Karen MacDonald has very sportingly agreed to go straight back out on the ice to play Kevin Ellsworth so that two of Kevin's teammates who live Up West can get home before the storm hits.

Saturday morning update:

The Cornwall Cashspiel wraps up today, with yesterday's early draw playing at 9 am and 2 pm, and Friday's late starters going at 11:30 am and 4:30  pm.

In action Friday at 5.30:

Kyle Stevenson of Charlottetown defeated Cornwall's Shirley Berry, Bob MacWilliams of the host club edged  Faith LeClair of the Silver Fox in a draw to the button and

Karen MacDonald (Paula Creamer team) of Charlottetown beat Cornwall's Karen Currie rink.

In the 8 pm draw, Matthew Nabuurs of Montague def. Kimball Blanchard (Geoff Scutt team), while Kevin Ellsworth (Kevin Smith team) of Crapaud defeated Angus Kennedy of Cornwall, and Joyce White (Shelley Ebbett team) of Charlottetown topped Sherren Morrison of Cornwall.

In this event, all teams play three games, with the winners of each game taking home $60 cash.
