The club is operating on a NORMAL schedule for the evening of Monday, January 29th.
As always with bad weather the club recommends using your OWN judgement based on conditions where you are and to drive safely if you do decide to come in.

The 2024 edition of the PEI Scotties and Tankard took place this past weekend and Cornwall was well represented!
While Cornwall didn’t have any teams officially representing the club in the Tankard, two of the teams had Cornwall members. Team Calvin Smith featured Cornwall members Calvin Smith and junior Anderson MacDougall while Team Tyler Harris – which made the B Qualifier – featured Cornwall members Tyler Harris and Tyler MacKenzie.
Team Tyler Smith of Crapaud Curling Club will be representing PEI at the Brier for the third year in a row.
On the women’s side, four of the eight teams were representing Cornwall (Teams Dewar, Blades, Ferguson, and Power) – with Team Power making the Championship playoff after winning both the B and C Qualifiers.
Team DiCarlo, who won the title after two very close games against Team Power in the playoffs, is skipped by Cornwall member Jane DiCarlo – who is our Friday Fun League drawmaster and leads our U18 Learn to Curl program, in addition to being the Curl PEI President.
Team DiCarlo will represent PEI at the Scotties this year.
Congrats to all involved for an excellent week of curling!
2024 PEI Scotties Champions, Team DiCarlo: L-R Jane DiCarlo, Veronica Mayne, Sabrina Smith, and Whitney Jenkins
2024 Scotties Finalist, Team Power representing Cornwall Curling Club: L-R Amanda Power, Sara Spafford, Emily Best, Shelly Bradley and Janique LeBlanc
With the wintery weather finally here we have been needing to salt the sidewalk more frequently.
This leads to quite the mess in the entry foyer, clubhouse, locker rooms, and even the ice rink.
We are asking everyone to please TAP YOUR SHOES on the outside entryway door frame to help knock off excessive salt in your treads AND use the large boot cleaner at the indoor entryway and the small boot cleaners right before going on the ice (in case your curling shoes picked up any salt/grime in the lobby)
This will significantly reduce the salt that gets tracked into the club and onto the playing surface.
We are also going to be ordering some boot trays for the clubhouse and locker rooms to make those available.
The club is operating on a NORMAL schedule on Thursday, January 25th.
As always with bad weather the club recommends using your own judgement based on conditions where you are and to drive safely if you do decide to come in.
If conditions change a further announcement will be made.
We had a cancellation of the Wednesday League on January 10th due to weather.
The PEI Mixed Championship that the club is hosting in February isn’t starting at the club until Thursday, February 15th now – so we will be making up the missed January 10th games for the Wednesday Daytime League on WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14th.
The Cornwall Curling Club was well represented at the 2024 Curl PEI Masters Curling Championships this weekend, with five of the nine teams being from or having members from Cornwall.
Both champions are Cornwall teams!
Team Rousseau defeated Team Weeks to win their second consecutive Masters Championship in the men’s division, while Team Berry won their fourth consecutive (and 7th overall) championship in the women’s division.
Congratulations and good luck at nationals!

The Cornwall Curling Club’s 2024 Club Championships will take place the weekend of February 2nd-4th with eight men’s and three women’s teams vying for the opportunity to represent the club at the Provincial Club Curling Championships at West Prince Curling Club in March.
Thank to Ryan Giddens who is once again heading up the event for us this year. Ryan will be reaching out to each of the skips this week with more detailed information regarding the event.
We are pleased welcome the PEI Firefighters Curling Association to the club for the next few days for their 2024 Provincial Firefighters Curling Championship!
Based on current and expected conditions we have decided to proceed as scheduled with our Tuesday Upstreet Competitive league games this evening.
We understand everyone’s comfort levels, travel situations, etc. are varied so please make your own decisions on whether you feel comfortable venturing out.
If both teams decide they aren’t comfortable and want to make up a game during a member’s practice time please reach out to the club manager.
The 2024 edition of the Kenmac Energy Bonspiel was a great success – the weekend saw 24 teams competing on the ice, playing trivia, eating pizza and turkey, and hanging out together in the club.
Thanks so much to all who made the event possible and a success – especially our many volunteers, Shauna McGill, Hogie Carmichael and crew, and our long-time title sponsor, Kenmac Energy.

For those wanting a more in-depth introduction to curling than our pre-season introductory Learn to Curl sessions, we now offer an 8-Week Adult Learn to Curl Program that will introduce you to the sport of curling and is designed for beginning curlers, those returning to the sport after time off, or newer curlers looking to improve their game!
While many people feel comfortable joining in one of our recreational leagues right out of the pre-season introductory Learn to Curl sessions, we found that some new curlers weren’t quite ready to make the jump into a league – so we have created this new program to fill that gap.
Each session will include off-ice instruction and also on-ice instruction and activities – including drills, mini-games, etc. As the weeks progress more and more time will be spent learning through playing in games. This is an excellent “follow-up” to our introductory pre-season Learn to Curl events, but participation in that event is NOT required to join this program.
The program will run on Sundays from January 28th through March 24th from 4:30pm – 6:00pm (NOTE: There won’t be any sessions on February 25th.
This program costs $95 + HST + CurlPEI fees for a total of $127.25. NOTE: CurlPEI fees include insurance coverage in case of accidents, falls, etc.
Limit of 32 curlers.
Please register by Thursday, January 18th at 5:00pm online at cornwall.curling.io, by contacting the Club at 902-566-4427 during business hours, or by sending an email with your phone contact information to manager@cornwallcurling.com
Please bring indoor CLEAN footwear and wear loose clothing. CSA-approved helmets (any type) are recommended for beginner curlers but are not mandatory for these age groups.
WHAT: 8-Week Adult Learn to Curl Program
WHEN: 4:30pm – 6:00pm, Sundays between January 28th and March 24th
WHERE: 29 Cornwall Road, Cornwall PE
COST: $95 + HST + CurlPEI fees for a total of $127.25
Due to improving road conditions and expected rain and temps above freezing the Wednesday Ladder League WILL proceed as scheduled tonight.
If conditions in your area don’t allow you to curl, we understand – please reach out to your opposition ASAP and we’ll find a time to reschedule your game!
The first round has wrapped up in the Wednesday evening Ladder League, with Team Milligan winning the “A” Pool and Team Neima taking the “B”, both with only one loss in their respective pool.
“A” Pool Winners – Team Milligan (L-R): Gary Milligan, Ellen Milligan, Wanetta Whitmore, Scott Ellis
“B” Pool Winners – Team Neima (L-R): Paul Neima, Alan Mason, Jeff Hannam, Randy Goodman
Based on their win-loss records, teams McInnis, Boswall, and Stewart will drop down from Pool A to Pool B, while teams Callin, Arsenault, and Bodner all had five wins in the “B” pool, with room for only two of them (along with Team Neima) to advance to the “B”. Looking at their records against each other, teams Callin and Arsenault will be advancing, as Callin beat both of the other teams, while Arsenault lost to Callin but beat Bodner and will also advance. Team Bodner lost to both and will remain in the “B” pool.
Here are the pools for Round Two. The B Pool gets the early draw the first week, as they had the late draw the last week of Round One. Team Arsenault has requested a bye on January 31, while Team Watts has asked for one on Feb. 28th. We will honour those requests.
Teams are reminded to check the draw times the first week, as, if they changed pools, they will be curling at the same time they did last week.

Rockfest Atlantic – March 28-30, 2024 in Moncton NB.
Qualifying curlers will spend 3 days in Moncton NB receiving top notch instruction, Skill Development Clinics and competing in Singles Competitions, Triples Curling and the Golden Rockfest.
This is a single competition meaning that curlers will compete and qualify as a individuals and not as a team.
PEI will be sending at the most 8 curlers (4 females and 4 males). A minimum score of 10/36 pts must be achieved to be invited to the Atlantic Rockfest.
How to Qualify
Parents will need to download the Singles Curling App and register their child. Permission will then need to be given to the instructor who is scoring the athlete. Since all the curlers are under the age of 15, parental permission is required through the app. There is currently no other way to enter the scores other than using the Curling Singles App.
Curl PEI will be hosting 3 in-person qualifying events. The first will be on Dec 29that the Cornwall Curling Club (exact times will depend on the number of entries).
The scoring will all be done through Singles Curling App developed by Curl Canada. (We have attached a scoresheet you can print to have with you just in case something happens when you are scoring or that you can use a back up.)
Curlers are encouraged to try qualifying as many times as they wish. Besides the 3 designated in-person qualifying events, curlers can also try to qualify on their own with their coach or Jr Coordinator scoring the athlete (note that parents are not allowed to score their son or daughter).
Curlers must be 14 or younger as of June 30, 2023.
Deadline for submitting scores is February 19, 2024.

Congratulations to ParaSport and Recreation PEI, who we partner with for our ParaSport Learn to Curl program, on receiving the 2023 Premier’s Award at the SportPEI Awards.
We are so proud of and happy for our fellow Island club, the Crapaud Curling Club, for all they have accomplished over the past few years!
A phrase I like to use often is “if it’s good for curling, it’s good for our club,” and that’s certainly the case of seeing one of our fellow Island clubs rebound and thrive.
Whether it’s Crapaud’s recent successes or the new West Prince club getting ready to welcome curlers to its new facility – we celebrate with other Islander curlers.
The 11th Annual Mixed Doubles Cashspiel was held last Saturday, with Calvin Smith and Terri Wood defeating Chris and Melissa Creighton in the final to take home the title!
Reminder – this is for the morning draws (4-person curling). Following lunch we’ll have 1 or 2 draws of stick curling as well, that draw being made up on the day of the party.

Sorry for the confusion!

If you have any donations please bring them to the club and leave them in the box – we’ll be making another delivery on Monday.
