Cornwall’s Ferguson and Shaw teams playing in 8:30 am quarter-finals at U21+ Slam event at Curl Moncton

Cornwall Curling Club teams skipped by Lauren Ferguson and by Katie Shaw are competing at Curl Moncton this weekend in the U21+ Aquarius Slam event. The Ferguson rink finished round-robin play with a 1-3 win-loss record and will take on Fredericton’s Justine Comeau foursome (3-1) in the 3rd vs 6th place quarter-finals at 8:30 this morning, while Shaw (0-4) will take on 1st place Équipe Lavoie  (3-1) from the Victoria/Jacques and Cartier/Etchemin clubs from Quebec in the 1st vs 8th place game. The winners will advance to 11:30 am semi-finals. The championship and consolation finals go at 3 pm.

Shaw was trailing 4-0 after the 4th end break in her opener against Ferguson, but fought back with three singles in the second half, losing 4-3.

In the men’s section, Curl Moncton’s Josh Nowlan rink, coached by Summerside native Daryell Nowlan, is tied for second with a 3-2 win-loss record going into the playoff round. Team Weagle from Chester is undefeated at 5-0.
