Lavoie and Sinnett teams win U21+ Slam at Curl Moncton, Cornwall’s Ferguson, Shaw bow out in quarter-finals

Cornwall Curling Club teams skipped by Lauren Ferguson and by Katie Shaw competed at Curl Moncton this weekend in the U21+ Aquarius Slam event. The Ferguson rink finished round-robin play with a 1-3 win-loss record and lost to Fredericton’s Justine Comeau foursome (3-1) in the 3rd vs 6th place quarter-final, while Shaw lost to the eventual champions, Équipe Lavoie from the Victoria/Jacques and Cartier/Etchemin clubs from Quebec in the 1st vs 8th place quarter-final game. The Lavoie team went undefeated in the event.

In the Junior Men’s section, the Chase Sinnett team from the Broomstones Curling Club in Massachusetts went undefeated, coming from behind in the final with an 8-6 win over the Graeme Weagle rink from Chester NS. Curl Moncton’s Josh Nowlan squad, coached by Summerside native Daryell Nowlan, lost 5-3 to Sinnett in the semi-finals.
