Cornwall’s Jackson still unbeaten at the Travelers

Only two undefeated teams remain going into the 11 am Sunday round robin draw at the provincial Travelers Curling Club Championship Championship at the Crapaud Community Curling Club. The John Desrosiers team from the Charlottetown Curling Complex remains unbeaten at 4-0 in the seven team men’s event, while the Lisa Jackson foursome from the Cornwall Curling Club are 3-0 in the five team women’s division. Cornwall’s Angus Kennedy men’s rink are currently at 1-3,beating the Maple Leaf team 8-7 in an extra end, but losing 7-6  to Desrosiers, 6-3 to  Crapaud’s Alan Inman, and 7-1 to Montague’s Donald Clarey. Jackson won her games 7-2 over Crapaud, 10-0 over Montague, and 9-2 over the Silver Fox.

Western Community’s Freddy Fraser, and Crapaud’s Alan Inman are 3-1 on the men’s side, while Iva Griffin from the Western Community club is second in the women’s draw, at 2-1. Griffin plays Jackson in one of three games in this morning’s draw, which gets underway at 11. Round robin play wraps up with draws at 3 and 7 pm. There are three championship round games scheduled on Monday, with the second and third place teams from the round robin squaring off at 11 am, with the winner in the men’s and women’s events facing the first place teams at 3 pm. In the event that a team goes undefeated in the round robin and loses the 3 pm game, a second game between the finalists will go at 7 pm.

Winning teams will advance to the national Travelers Curling Club Championship, November 23-28, 2015 at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club, in Ottawa Ontario.
