Fullerton team in Consolation round at OVCA Junior SuperSpiel

PEI Junior Women’s champions, the Sarah Fullerton rink from our Club, are competing in the John Shea Insurance OVCA Junior SuperSpiel  this weekend in Ottawa. They are the only PEI rink in the event, with teams from as far away as Switzerland.

The Fullerton rink, which includes Michelle McQuaid, Sara MacRae, and Whitney Young,  lost their first two games, to Roxanne Perron of Quebec City, and  Kendra Lilly of Sudbury, but won against Quebec’s Lisa Davies team on Friday night. On Saturday morning, the PEI rink lost 6-1 to the Stephanie Brown team from Kemptville ON., taking them out of the championship side of the event, and moving them into the consolation round.

At 9 ET (10 PEI time) this morning, they play the Colin Thomas rink from St. John’s in consolation play [my nephew Spencer Wicks – Nancy’s sister’s son – is on that team.].   The winner plays again at noon, with the consolation championship at 4 Eastern.

Qualified so far in the men’s championship round are the Joey Witherspoon rink from Winnipeg, and the Mathew Camm team from Ottawa.

Women’s qualifiers include Lauren Grey of Scotland, and Katie Lindsay of Toronto.

The semi-finals go at noon, with the finals at 4 Eastern.
