Peake & McInnis League has room for a few more teams

This is a reminder that a new league, sponsored by Peake & McInnis Ltd. Insurance Brokers is being set up to run Sundays at 5 and 7 pm from  December 18th to January 22nd.  Note that there is no additional charge for paid-up Cornwall Curling Club members to participate in this league.  Note also that this is just another opportunity to prepare for the club playdowns for The Dominion. If you already have a team in another league that you plan to enter into the playdowns, they don’t have to join this league, too (but they can!). We would like more teams, so sign up toeday!

This league is designed to offer our club curlers not already playing as a team in another league draw an opportunity to play as a team in a league event to meet the eligibility requirements of the Dominion Club playoffs being held February 3, 4, and 5, 2012. The league is open to the first 12 teams.  Teams registering for this league must play a minimum of four (4) of the draw times to be deemed having met the requirements for our 2012 Dominion Club.

To register a team or for more information, contact Bev at 566-4427 or Karen at 675-2563.  Deadline for registration has been extended to December 15th.

The Dominion Curls National  Rules for Eligibility  2012:

We trust that all participants will respect the intent of this championship. The event is formulated for true club curlers, not elite, past or present. The objective is to support ordinary curlers and the development of curling across Canada. We keep this objective in mind as we set our eligibility requirements and on-ice rules, including the CCA Rules of Curling for General Play. The Dominion reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to exclude any team that violates this spirit and intent.

1. The curling club represented by the team must be affiliated with its Provincial/Territory Association.

2. Each club will declare a men’s team and women’s team of 4 players that played together regularly, in a sanctioned club league in the most recent season, excluding major/super leagues, to represent the club as the men’s and women’s club champions.

3. Each team will be allowed only 1 player who has played in a Juniors’, Men’s, Women’s or Seniors’ provincial/territory event in the current or previous 4 years, or participated in a Grand Slam event in the current or previous 4 years.*

4. All games will be 8 ends with ties being decided by a full extra end.

5. A maximum of 1 replacement player from the club can play lead.

6. Each team will be allowed a maximum of 2 players under the age of 20, as of December 31st of the year prior to the championship (minimum age of 15 as of December 31st).**

7. The Dominion has the sole authority to grant exceptions to these rules in extraordinary circumstances.

*Provinces/Territories with open provincials/territories will be permitted 1 player who has placed top four in a Juniors’, Men’s, Women’s or Seniors’ provincial/territory event in the current or previous 4 years, or participated in a Grand Slam event in the current or previous 4 years.

**Individual curling associations may adopt more restrictive criteria if they choose.

NOTE:  ***On PEI and in Alberta, Rule 6 has been changed to allow 2 players who have reached the age of 19 prior to the start of the National Championship.
