Round One of the Wednesday Evening Ladder League, with sponsors Charlottetown Bottle and Metal, and Sam’s Restaurant, wrapped up on Dec. 30.
Team Quilty
In the “A” Pool, the team of Aleya Quilty, Tyler MacKenzie, Eddy Bushev, and Alyssa Holliday went undefeated with a 7-0 win-loss record to win the round, followed by the Paul Neima rink at 6-1, and the Mark MacDonald foursome at 5-2. The young Brayden Snow team, who had a close game against Team Quilty on the final night, had four wins, and will also remain in the “A” pool for the second round, as will the Josh McInnis-skipped “Legion of Broom” team, who were tied with the Chris MacDougall squad, both with 2 victories. Because President MacDougall and his rink lost their game against the “Legion”, they will be descending the ladder to the B Pool, along with the Dave Younker and Greg Groves teams, both with one win. Younker picked up his win on the final night, 11-6 over Groves.
Team Robertson
The “B” pool was won by the team of Greg Robertson, Kim Pippy, Jeff Arsenault, and Laura Arsenault, finishing with an impressive 6-1 win-loss record. They’ll be climbing the ladder to the “A” pool for the next round, along with the Clara Jack rink, who went 5-2, and the Joe Callaghan team, who had 4 wins and 3 losses.
The Hank Kamphuis team also went 4-3, but lost to Team Callaghan in their round robin encounter, and will remain in the “B” Pool. Also staying in “B” are the Firefighters, who will be a force to be reckoned with next round after picking up some new players and ending up with a total of three wins. Also staying put are the Kelly Watts team, who also had three victories, along with the Rob Gallant and Peter Joostema rinks who both had two.
Round Two “A” Pool Sponsor
Here are the pools for Round Two, starting on January 6, and sponsored by Wendys and the Belvedere Golf Course. The “A” pool gets the early draw the first week as they had the late draw the last week of Round One. We will run a full seven-week schedule, with any missed nights due to storms or other reasons not being played. The third round will be six weeks.
