Support Cornwall’s Olympian!

(SportPEI) The Town of Cornwall and the community of New Haven/Riverdale fully support Jared Connaughton in the 2012 Olympics and wish Jared all the best.

The communities would like to invite the public to sign a book of support and best wishes for PEI’s Olympian. The book is an opportunity for all Islanders to show their support for Jared as he competes in his 2nd Olympics. It will be presented to Jared by his parents, Neal & Susan, when they travel to the London Olympics on August 3rd.

The public can sign the book at Cornwall’s Town Hall between July 25th and August 2nd during the hours of 9-4 Monday to Friday and Saturday 9:30-5.

Jared Connaughton will join a select band of Island athletes when he appears at his second Olympic Games in London next month. Jared will run in the 200m (and likely 4x100m relay), having qualified at the recent Canadian championships.

The only other Islanders to appear at more than one set of Games –  Dr Sandy MacDonald, sailing (1960 & 1964), Dave MacEachern, bobsleigh (1992, 1994 & 1998), Kara Grant, modern pentathlon (2004 & 2008), and Heather Moyse, bobsleigh (2006 & 2010).
