Hello Stick Curlers!
We hope that this note finds everyone safe and doing well…
While some of you have been participating in the “Members’ Ice Time’ for some practice, we have missed many here at the club ….and we have certainly missed the life that gameplay brings to our club here at 29 Cornwall Road!
Our ‘Return to Play’ team (lead by Chair Peter Murdoch) our Daytime Committee Chair Paul Durant, with Daytime Committee Stick Curling Chair Myrna Sanderson, has been working hard to be able to have some sort of gameplay under the current guidelines.
We feel we have found such a solution that is based on, what Curl PEI, defines as “PODS” of 20 curlers or less.
Bear with us as we explain ….
What this means is:
We can continue a “drop-in” format, but have arranged all participants for Stick Curling into two groups or PODS of 20 or less.
POD ‘A’ will curl afternoon stick curling drop-in on Mondays and Thursdays, 12:30 – 2:30 as usual.
POD ‘B’ will curl afternoon drop-in on Tuesday and Friday, 12:30-2:30 as usual.
You should have received an email letting you know which POD you are in… If you have not received that email, please send us an email to cornwallcurling@eastlink.ca
You will not be able to curl with anyone outside of your POD until we return to “regular” club play.
The drop-in style format will continue: in that different teams will be formed each session. (Draw Masters will have discs in two baskets)
We recognize this may be a bit confusing or frustrating. (Our heads are a little spiny too!)
Please know that we are doing the best that we can to provide “scrimmage” play to all curlers under the current guidelines to try and keep everyone safe while participating in the recreation we love.
Note here: If you curl on a Wednesday League team…no worries! You are allowed to curl in two different pods of 20, every week. So you will be able to curl on Wednesdays, as well as in your delegated POD during ‘Afternoon Stick Curling Drop In’.
