First Newcomers curling night a big success. Volunteer instructors required again this Sunday

DSC00287

Thanks to everyone who helped out on Sunday with our first Newcomers curling instruction session. We had over 30 Newcomers out to learn about this very Canadian winter sport, with the help of our volunteer instructors. We have two more sessions, this Sunday, January 31, and next Sunday Feb. 7 from 6-8 pm. If you would like to help our with our on-ice instruction, arrive by about 10 to 6, and we’ll assign some Newcomers to help out!

Background: The Cornwall Curling Club has, as we did a year ago, invited some of our newest Islanders, with the help of the PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada (PEIANC), and a grant from the Province of PEI and the Government of Canada to help pay for staff and ice time, to come out and try the very Canadian sport of curling, from 6-8 pm on three consecutive Sunday evenings:

Sunday, January 24 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Sunday
, January 31 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Sunday
, February 7 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Curlers (and instructors) will also receive complimentary hot chocolate and cookies.

Newcomers who are interested in taking part are asked to send in your names to:
