The Cornwall Curling Club has a Junior Program for you!

From Little Rockers through to national and world-level competitors, the Cornwall Curling Club has a junior program for everyone! We have Little Rocker and Novice instructional programs starting at age six, up through our Under 21 Junior team curlers.

Junior curling program starts Oct. 27, preceded by a Fun Day on the 20th

Our Junior Instructional Program kicks off with our FREE Intro to Curling Fun Day for ages 5-12 on Oct. 20 from 1-3 pm. Our regular instruction starts October 27, and will run on Sundays from 1-2 pm for Little Rockers (age 6-7), and from 2-3 pm for Novice (age 8-12), as well as on Tuesdays from 5-6 pm or Fridays from 4-5 pm for Novice only. Please arrive 15 minutes early to warm up. Juniors curlers (age 13-20) who have completed the instructional program are invited to schedule team practices Monday to Friday after school, and can begin on October 14. 

Little Rockers (ages 6-7). This is an entry-level curling program for children ages 6 and 7. Registration includes one, one-hour session per week, on Sunday afternoons from 1 to 2  pm (please arrive 15 minutes early for stretching and preparation). The instructional curling program is divided into two sessions, before and after the Christmas break, and you can sign up for one or both.

Cost: $55 for Oct. to Dec. or Dec.-March OR $95 for the full season.  HST and $15 Curl PEI Fee and $2.00 Curling Canada Fee will be added to either rate.

Novice Instructional Program (ages 8-12). This is an entry-level curling program for children ages 8 to 12Registration includes two, one-hour sessions per week. Sessions take place Sunday afternoons from 2 to 3 pm (please arrive 15 minutes early for stretching and preparation) PLUS one, one-hour session, either Tuesdays 5 to 6 pm or Fridays from 4 to 5 pm. (Your time and day for Tuesday/Friday sessions are determined by our registration numbers). Cost: $140.00 + HST and $15 Curl PEI Fee and $2.00 Curling Canada Fee for the season.

 The last instructional day is March 29, and a Closing Party where curlers can skate on the ice is tentatively scheduled for April 5.

All curlers are encouraged to register online at any time starting Oct. 7 at CornwallCurling.com/registration. In-house registration is available as well. Returning Junior Plus members may register in-house on October 9th at the Club from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Other new and returning Little Rock, Novice and Junior curlers (and new entries into the Junior Plus) can register in-house on Oct. 16th from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

Junior team practice times: Please see the manager and book times for the season. Teams get two practice slots per week between 3:30 and either 5:30 or 6 pm Monday through Friday.

There is also a Saturday morning Under 16 junior team league, running selected dates. Teams from other clubs are welcome to join this league as well.

Evening Leagues: new adult teams will be given first priority to fill open vacancies, and junior teams will be added as space is available. All team members must be 13 years of age or older in order to play in the evening draws.

Junior membership rates (unchanged from last season).  HST + $15 Curl PEI and $2 Curling Canada fees are added )

Junior “walk on” fee (for non-members when space available) is $5 per game, HST included.

Locker Rentals (may be shared) are $30 for the season. There may be a waiting list.

Provincials

There are a number of Provincial Championships available for Junior curlers to compete in each season, in the Under 13, Under 16, Under 18 and Under 21 (Juniors) age categories. There is also a less competitive Jamboree Day with fun activities. The U13 teams can be any combination of male and female while the others have separate male and female divisions. Helmet Policy

At the Cornwall Curling Curling Club anyone under 12, as well as everyone in the instructional program, is required to wear a helmet. Any helmet – bicycle, hockey, etc. is acceptable.
