Mark MacDonald rink sweeps round robin to win Cornwall Men’s Club Ch’ship playdowns and advance to Provincials

Winners!
Team MacDonald – Skip Mark MacDonald, Mate Brad Gardiner, Second Wayne Goodwin, and Lead Garth Cudmore.

Here are the Draw 3 results from our Men’s Club Championship Playdowns:

Team MacDonald 6
Team Gallant 4

Team MacDonald won all 3 round robin games to capture Cornwall’s Men’s Curling Club Championship. They defeated Team Gallant Saturday afternoon to earn a spot at the Provincials in O’Leary next month. It was a close game, but a score of 3 by MacDonald in the 4th end made the difference.

Team Arsenault 12
Team Kennedy 1

Arsenault had a 2-1 lead after 3 ends, then blew it open with a superb run-back double in the 4th to score 3, followed by a steal of 2 in the 5th. It was handshakes after 6 ends when Kennedy was heavy on a difficult draw.

Final standings:
Team MacDonald 3-0
Team Arsenault 2-1
Team Kennedy 1-2
Team Gallant 0-3

Thanks to all four teams for taking part, to Peter Murdoch and everybody else involved with running the championship, and to everyone who came out and watched. Good luck to the Mark MacDonald and Kim Nicholson rinks at the provincial Curling Club Championships, February 22-26 at the Maple Leaf Curling Club in O’Leary!
