Stephen Turner is a former Cornwall Curling Club member who passed away when his car left the road in New Brunswick in April 2010. He was 27, and it was determined that he died of natural causes. At the time, he was Executive Assistant to Education Minister Doug Currie. A memorial fund/scholarship is being set up in his honour, and is being launched with a wine and cheese fundraiser on Monday Nov. 21 from 5-7 pm at Simple Pleasures Catering, Grafton Street location. Tickets are $20 and are available at the door, or by emailing Jamie MacPhail at jxmacphail@gov.pe.ca.
The scholarship will be awarded annually to a PEI post-secondary student who has shown interest within, and commitment to the political process and community organizations on the Island.
