Did you know that the Cornwall Curling Club hosts one of the Island’s most popular daytime curling leagues?! We have eighteen teams that compete, as we host two draws every Wednesday!
These curlers are awesome…
The level of fun had is only equal to the talent on the ice! There is some really impressive shot-making, some great strategy, and strong sweeping…
But in the end… the most entertaining part is the playful banter and laughter that is overheard between the shouts to “hurry hard”.
We are friends and community first, and friendly competitors second.
The day always starts with conversation and a coffee; discussions about the latest news from CBC Prince Edward Island and The Guardian updates on children and grandchildren, and the odd heated discussion about community and world politics…
It always ends with a winner and loser, of course, some rosy cheeks, and most importantly post-game antics about what went right… or wrong…that day on the ice!
These curlers are active, social, and enjoying all of the physical and social benefits that curling offers…in our little community hub right here on 29 Cornwall Road.
We have to say a special thank you to league Drawmaster and organizer, Paul Durant, for all of his work in planning for this league. Thank you, Paul!
Many of the curlers who participate in this league are experienced, but there are also many who have only started curling in the last few years~ and have learned by curling with friends and family on our drop-in curling days.
We encourage everyone to consider the sweet benefits of curling as a lifelong sport, and to come and visit us Monday to Friday 9 am to 6 pm here at the Cornwall Curling Club to learn more about this fantastic recreation opportunity!
