Team Callaghan is off to the PEI Travelers Ch’ship!

Team “Callaghan”, with Garth Cudmore skipping and throwing 4th stones, are this year’s Cornwall Curling Club Men’s Travelers champs, and will be joining the Debbie Rhodenhizer foursome at the PEI Travelers Curling Club Championships, March 9-13 in Montague.

Game One

As we told you earlier, Team Callaghan, which includes skip Garth Cudmore, third Joe Callaghan, second Alan Mason; and lead Jeff Hannam, beat the rink of  Brock Spence, Jay Carr; Chris Montigny and Mike Montigny by an 8-1 score in the opening game of the best of 3 series on Friday.

Game Two

Spence forced a deciding game Saturday afternoon by taking game 2 on Saturday morning by an 8-4 score, grabbing the lead early, up 6-3 after five ends. A Spence deuce in the 6th made it 8-3. Team Callaghan was kept to a single in the 7th, and Team Spence ran them out of rocks in the 8th for the victory, tieing the series at 1-all.

Game Three

Team Callaghan came out hungry in the sudden death deciding game, scoring a triple in the first end. Team Spence was unable to generate any offense, and conceded after five ends, with the score at 9-0.

Team Callaghan wins the deciding game and will represent the Club at the Provincial Travelers.
