Cornwall Curling Club member Lauren Lenentine (you may have noticed her Team Canada jersey on our wall, honouring her World Junior Championship win as an alternate with Team Nova Scotia!) now does most of her curling with Winnipeg’s Team Zacharias, at cashspiels and other curling events in western Canada, but she is home for the holidays right now, where she is practicing every day, along with her Dad, Robbie. We’re sure she’s teaching him some techniques he can use in the Thursday evening league! Lauren and her teammate Emily Zacharias are two of Curling Canada’s ten 2019 “For the Love of Curling” scholarship recipients. Lauren is in the Science program at the University of Manitoba.
Team Zacharias has had an amazing season so far, winning both Junior events like the OVCA Superspiel, and non-junior events, including the Sunova Spiel in East St. Paul Manitoba, along with being a finalist at the DEKALB Superspiel in Morris MB. We look forward to following their progress after the holidays!
