MacDonald and Neima rinks win Wed. evening Ladder League final round

The Wednesday evening Ladder League, with round 3 sponsored by Clow’s Red & White and New Glasgow Lobster Suppers wrapped up last evening with some exciting curling action!

The Mark MacDonald rink won the “A” Pool, with only one loss in the round. The Brayden Snow team also had only one loss, but it was to MacDonald, so they finish in 2nd place.

“A” Pool winners (front row left to right, with Drawmaster Derek MacEwen behind in the centre): Geoff Boyle, Nelson Dougay, Mark MacDonald, Jonathan MacDonald

In the “B” Pool, the first-place honours went to the Paul Neima rink, who, up one coming home without hammer while playing their last game without their skip, won a closely-fought contest against the David Younker squad, going through a port to outcount their opponents. Team Neima finished with a 5-1 win-loss record.

B Pool winners (L-R): Randy Goodman, Alan Mason, Jeff Hannam. Missing from photo: Skip Paul Neima

Team Neima’s only loss was to the Legion of Broom team skipped by Josh McInnis, who would have won the round, but lost according to the rules, as they left one game as a tie situation due to a pause in play the evening of March 31, and therefore only had four wins (and a tie) to Team Neima’s 5 wins (the rules specify that ties are broken by a draw to the button).

Thanks to everyone who participated this (interesting!) season, and we hope to see everyone back in October for another season of the Wednesday Evening Ladder League!
