Program Overview

YOUTH PROGRAMS 2024-25

From Little Rockers through to national and world-level competitors, the Cornwall Curling Club has a youth program for everyone. We have Little Rocker and Novice instructional programs starting at age six, up through our Under 21 Junior team curlers.

LITTLE ROCKERS INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM (Ages 6-7)

Children will learn ice safety, basic curling techniques, and some of the basic rules of curling. The objective is safety, fun, social interaction, an introduction to the game, and active and inclusive living.

See Little Rockers and Novice Curling page for more details.

NOVICE INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM (Ages 8-12)

Children will learn ice safety, beginner and enhanced curling techniques, and the rules of curling. The objective of the program is safety, fun, social interaction, an introduction to the game, and active and inclusive living, and preparation for competitive play.

See Little Rockers and Novice Curling page for more details.

JUNIOR TEAM PRACTICE (Ages 13-21)

Junior Team Practice time is a part of our Junior Development Program. These are typically competitive teams, ages 13-20 who use this time for practicing skill development and for coaching time.

See Junior Team Practice page for more details.

SUNDAY JUNIOR CURLING (Ages 13-18)

NOTE: Sunday Junior Program can be a team’s 2nd schedule practice or counts as a league in the Junior Practice Plus League membership level.

A program for kids that allows for different curling paths depending on their interest level.

This program will allow junior curlers an opportunity to stay in the game beyond the age of 12 regardless if they only want to be on the ice once a week as an individual, play in a fun spiel once a year or be a competitive junior team that plays multiple tournaments a year.

This program is intended for curlers with at least two years of experience OR who have graduated from the Novice or U18 Learn to Curl programs.

See Sunday Junior Curling page for more details.

U15 SATURDAY CURLING LEAGUE
Cost: $50 plus HST per individual

The U15 Junior Curling League will take place Saturday starting October 26, 2024.

This league is open to new teams and seasoned vets. There will be a focus on learning the rules and etiquette of the game. Games will be eight ends with a 2-hour time limit and allowing coaching interactions.

NOTE: This league is not a membership program and is open to teams from ANY club – you do NOT have to be a member at Cornwall Curling Club. However, ALL participants must be a member of a CurlPEI affiliated Club and have paid the annual CurlPEI fees to participate. If you aren’t currently a member at any CurlPEI Club, you can register for a membership separately at our Club.

See U15 Saturday Curling League page for more details.

ANNUAL END OF SEASON YOUTH PROGRAM PARTY

At the end of every season we like to invite the participants in all our youth programming – along with their families – to have blast at the End of Season Youth Program Party.

Free pizza, prizes, goofy games on the ice, and finally skating on the ice to close out the season.

JUNIOR PROGRAM FEES
