CK Spiel report

CK

This past weekend the annual CK Kleaning Bonspiel took place at the club. After a wintery start on Friday where the 2 draws were cancelled die to the weather and roads. 63 curlers spent the day curling, eating and having fun all day Saturday.
The event this year featured ‘bonus curling’ where teams selected a sealed envelope to determine the game they would play for the 6th end. Anything was possible from stick curling, to curling with hockey gloves on, to a moving button and surprise scoring.
This bonus curling was a separate competition from the actual curling games. Good thing because Allan Acorn and his team did not do that well in the normal event.
Jeff Taylor’s junior team spent the whole day at the club selling tickets on new brushes and running the putting competition. This proved to be a lot of fun and the kids earned some extra money to help with their expenses.
The winners for the curling games were:
Paul Durant, Tracy MacDonald, Jack Ferguson and Shirley Ferguson.
Runners up:
Ray Biagé, Hélène LaPalme, Paul Ling and Helen Verhulp.
The winners of the ‘bonus curling’:
Allan Acorn, Valerie Acorn, Kevin Moerike, Mary Ellen Moerike.

Lorianne Davies and Len Gotell won the new brushes. The good news, though, is that Lorianne got a new brush for Christmas so she sold hers to John Berry!!!! Finally the Fisher Price  (The Hammer) broom may be retired!!

Paul MacCarron won the putting contest and offered the prize (4 rounds of golf at the newly expanded 18 hole Countryview Golf Club) for a fund raiser for the Sarah Fullerton team going to the Nationals. Dick MacDonald had the highest bid at $95. Thank you to Paul and Dick for the help given to our Junior Champions.

The closing dinner of Lasagna, garlic bread and ceaser salad was again prepared and served by students of the Culinary Institute. Everyone seemed to enjoy the great food, even if the chili at noon was a tad warm???
Thank you everyone who helped out and took part, and to sponsors CK Carpet Kleaning and Restoration for a great time!!!
