Cornwall Curling Club supports the new Town of Cornwall single-use bottled water sales ban!

Our landlords, the Town of Cornwall, recently passed a resolution saying that single-use bottled water will not be sold in municipal facilities (such as our building, the Cornwall Civic Centre), from municipally-owned or municipally-administered concessions, or from vending machines in municipal facilities. As well, single-use bottled water will not be provided at municipal meetings or events where access to municipal water is available.

We are pleased to support this ban. Bottled water isn’t a big seller at our Club, as we offer excellent Cornwall municipal ice water free of charge, and it is mostly purchased by curlers from other provinces who are not used to such great water.

As you know, we started an initiative this season to encourage our curlers to bring their own reusable water bottles to the ice house when curling, instead of our single-use plastic cups, and it has been working extremely well. We would like to encourage curlers and spectators who come here from other provinces and clubs for events such as the Maritime Masters to do the same!
