Good time had by all at Murphy’s Ice Queens Women’s Funspiel!

Murphy’s Ice Queens Funspiel was held on December 1/ 2018 with 8 teams participating.

Matos Winery donated a basket with a bottle of red wine, balsamic vinegar, and other goodies; and there were door prizes on hand as well, including donated pot scrubbers from Shirley Berry.

Each team played 3 six-end games, round robin format. Winners of the event were Karen Currie (who skipped another winning team last year) as well as Joanne Durant, Irene Fraser and Jean Anderson (she was also on the winning team last year). These ladies will have their names inscribed on the Murphy’s Ice Queens Trophy and each won a $40 Murphy’s gift card.

Second place $25 Murphy’s gift cards were awarded to Diane MacKay, Carlene Peters, Helen Smith and Lacey Gallant.

Enthusiastic photo booth participation winners

The final four $10 Murphy’s gift cards were awarded to Janette Fraser, Carolyn Crockett, Bernie Field and Ann Greybourn for their enthusiastic participation in the photo booth.

We also had Cornwall Curling Club gift certificates as prizes for the teams who won trivia (Kim Nicholson, Janice Murdoch, Lisa MacEachern, Paula Ling), and a brain teasers game (Myrna Sanderson, Angela Sanderson and Amanda MacIntosh).

The ladies were treated to lunch of soup and rolls followed by sweets; and a closing banquet was catered by Alan Carmichael who prepared a lovely turkey dinner with all the fixings. The meal was served by club members Darren MacKinnon and Doug Kelly and board members Chris MacDougall and Peter Murdoch.

This event could not have been so successful without the generosity of our sponsor, Murphy’s Pharmacies as well as the ongoing support we have had from Matos Wineries. We had lots of help from many members with such tasks as taking registration, selling tickets, providing food, kitchen duty, setting up, cleaning up etc.
