Icemaking underway!

Icemaking has started here at the Cornwall Curling Club. Lance Lowther, who has been our only head icemaker since the Club’s inception, is retiring and handing the icemaking reins over to Brent Irving, but is on duty again this year to help out with the ice installation.

The first flood was completed Saturday, with assistance from Duane MacNevin of the North River Fire Department with their pumper truck. Lance and Brent, assisted by Al MacCormac, Allan Acorn, Roy Coffin, Peter Murdoch, and President Bryan Sutherland, added three floods today, and everything is progressing nicely.

Larry Richards from Montague, who has been an icemaker at national and world events, will be here later to assist with painting the ice white and installing the rings, lines, decals, and final floods.
