JUNIOR TEAM PRACTICE
Junior Team Practice time is a part of our Junior Development Program.
These are typically competitive teams, ages 13-20 who use this time for practicing skill development and for coaching time. This program requires all curling teams to recruit their own coaches/instructors. (NOTE: Anyone under 13 must be assessed and receive approval)
Teams will be assigned two days per week for their practice sessions. Each session is one hour each. NOTE: Teams can choose to have two practice slots OR one practice slot and a position in the Sunday Junior Program. Reach out to the manager for a discount code.
Practice times are Monday to Thursday and ice times can be from 4:00pm – 5:00pm OR 5:00pm – 6:00pm.
NOTE: All junior curlers scheduled for 5:00pm start time must be off the ice by 6:00pm for our evening draws.
Returning teams will be offered their previous year’s practice time as a priority, and then any open/available spots as next priority. (For more details/information on this policy, please see the club manager).
New teams will then be assigned available practice times.
The program coordinator will venture to work with the teams to accommodate schedules as much as possible, working with the club manager and club schedule.
Our ice will be scraped and pebbled after our afternoon curling user group for the start of the 4:00pm Junior Practice sessions (it will not be scraped or pebbled between the 4:00pm and 5:00pm sessions).
There is no sharing of memberships. All curlers must pay for a membership (i.e., whether a team of four or five, etc.). Extra curlers must pay for a membership or a drop-in fee.
All memberships give you the opportunity to play in members-only tournaments and compete in provincial championships (entry fees are additional). You may also book Members’ Practice Ice (please see website for days/times) at no cost when ice is available. You can also spare in any league without additional cost.
NOTE: Those teams whose members are all 13+ may enter one of our evening leagues and select a Junior Practice PLUS One League memberships. Additionally, if you or your team plans to participate in the Sunday Junior Curling program, that may count as either your second practice if you so desire OR count as a league for the Junior Practice PLUS One League membership.
