Mark MacDonald team wins 2019 Kenmac Energy Mixed Funspiel

The annual Kenmac Energy Mixed Funspiel, with 22 teams taking part, came to a close Saturday evening with the team skipped by Mark MacDonald and 3rd Katelyn Burgoyne, 2nd Breanne Burgoyne and lead Garth Cudmore getting their names added to the Kenmac plaque.

Teams played one six-end game on Friday evening and two more on Saturday. Off-ice on Friday night, the curlers were served up mussels from MR Seafoods Inc as well as other snack foods.  They were then treated to a great evening of music by Just Cuz.

Saturday morning started with freshly-brewed coffee, and muffins supplied by Country Style as well as muffins, sweet loaves, biscuits, cheese and fruit provided by our own members.  A selection of pizzas was delivered at lunchtime from Pizza Delight in Cornwall. During the day, some word games were played with prizes donated by Lauren Lenentine, and the daytime curlers. 50/50 tickets were sold, with winners Ray Biagé and Paul Durant taking home some extra cash. At the end of the spiel, curlers were treated to a roast beef dinner with dessert prepared and served by Alan “Hoagie” Carmichael and his staff.

The top seven winning teams were presented with Mel’s Gift Card prizes ranging from $25 to $50 each (four for each team).

We are very lucky to have Kenmac Energy as our sponsor for this annual event. Their generosity is very much appreciated by all who participate! And we encourage all Cornwall Curling Club members to consider Kenmac for all their home heating needs, as well as Mel’s, Country Style and Thai Express for their gas and snacking.

Big thanks to many of our members for the help with lots of tasks such as taking registration, announcing, scorekeeping, selling tickets, providing/prepping food, kitchen duty, setting/cleaning up etc. Also thanks to Bev our club manager, Lance the “Ice Man” along with Danny and Brent for doing an amazing job keeping our ice in great shape! And a huge thanks as well to Ray, our custodian and our bartenders for the weekend, Kelley and Al. All these things help make the Kenmac Energy Mix Funspiel a very successful event!

Thanks to everyone!
