Team UPEI, skipped by Veronica Smith, runner-up in AUS Ch’ship (but win CIS berth)

The Sara Spafford-skipped Saint Mary’s women’s team beat Team UPEI, skipped by Veronica Smith, 7-5 this afternoon to win the women’s Subway Atlantic University Sports Curling Championship at the Montague Curling Club. Both teams will now advance to the CIS/CCA Championship in Waterloo ON, March 18-21, hosted by Wilfred Laurier University.

The Josh Barry-skipped UNB rink won the men’s final, with a 9-5 victory over St. Mary’s, captained by Scott Babin. Barry also plays on the PEI men’s championship rink, skipped by Adam Casey. Former Cornwall clubmember Alex Sutherland also plays on the UNB team. Both UNB and SMU advance to the CIS/CCA championships.
