All Sun. Feb. 28 curling, except for 3:15-6 pm Members’ practice, cancelled due to PEI Gov’t Circuit Breaker

A Message from the Cornwall Curling Club:

We want to advise our members and user groups that the Board of Directors, our ‘Return to Play Committee’ and the Club Manager have been assessing our current public health challenges and consequent announcements from the Chief Public Health Office (CPHO).

We have paid attention to the updates from the CPHO and immediately instituted increased cleaning and sanitization measures, on top of our existing plan (in which we perform “enhanced cleaning and sanitization” several times daily).

Today Dr. Morrison, with Premier King, announced that the Province of Prince Edward Island will enter a “Circuit Breaker” to begin 8 am Sunday, February 28th and continue to Sunday March 14th. Dr. Morrison briefly outlined the “Measures” and guidelines of the Circuit Breaker and instructed citizens, businesses, and organizations to refer to a document published online.

Based on this announcement, our Club Executive is taking a day to review the document and to determine how it will affect our curling operations.

Our plan is the following:

-Our ‘Return to Play’ committee will be meeting Sunday to discuss the situation further.
-Recommendations from the ‘Return to Play Committee’ will be submitted to the Board of Directors for consideration.
–  We hope to make an announcement relating to our curling operations following this process (Sunday afternoon or evening).

Please follow our webpage and social media for updates.

We want to assure curlers that we remain committed to doing everything possible to provide safe curling opportunities/options for the remainder of the season. We strongly believe in both the physical and mental health benefits that curling brings to our communities. Premier King noted that he would like to see citizens remain active, and we would like to be able to provide opportunities for our user groups to do so, in the safest possible ways (as we take our lead from Dr. Morrison and the experts at the CPHO).

On Sunday February 28,  all curling programs, drop-ins, leagues, and rentals will be cancelled, with the exception of “Members Afternoon Practice” from 3:15 pm-6 pm.

Cancellations include:
Early Morning Members’ Practice 8:45-9:45
Sunday Drop-In Curling 10-12 noon
ParaSport Learn to Curl 12noon-1pm
Little Rockers 1pm-2pm
Novice Curling 2 pm-3 pm
Doubles Curling 6:30pm-8:30pm
Sunday Evening Rental 8:30pm to 10:30pm

As mentioned the only curling option for Sunday will be “Members’ Afternoon Practice” from 3:15-4:15, 4:15-5:15, and 5:15-6.

Currently, all sessions are full, except the 5:15 pm-6 pm session.
Please call the Club by 10 pm Sunday if you would like to book at that time, or check back Sunday at 3 pm. There are only three sheets remaining as of 8:30pm this evening (Saturday February 27th).

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to our Club Manager at cornwallcurling@eastlink.ca .

Thank you… and stay safe.
