Callaghan wins first Men’s Club Travelers Playdown game

Game 1 of our men’s Club Travelers competition wrapped up on Friday evening, with the team of Joe Callaghan, Garth Cudmore, Alan Mason; and Jeff Hannam beating the rink of  Brock Spence, Jay Carr; Chris Montigny and Mike Montigny by an 8-1 score.

The game was fairly close with Team Callaghan up 4-1 after four ends.  A steal of four in the fifth for Team Callaghan (with Garth Cudmore throwing last rock) ran the score up to 8-1 and resulted in handshakes.

Game 2 in the best of 3 goes at 10 am Saturday. If game 3 is required it will go at 2 pm.

The Debbie Rhodenhizer rink are, for the third year in a row, our women’s representatives, after the other team entered withdrew.

Our club champs will advance to the 2018 PEI Travelers Curling Club Championships, March 9-13 at the Montague Curling Club.

The provincial winners will advance to the national event, normally held in November. Dates and location have not yet been announced.
