Cornwall teams in action this weekend in Mixed, 15 and Under

The  Lorianne Davies rink from the Cornwall Curling Club, along with club member Donna Butler,  who curls with the defending champions Kyle Stevenson rink, are among the fourteen entries in this weekend’s  M&M Meat Shops Provincial Mixed Curling Championship, just down the road at the Crapaud Community Curling Club. Playing with Lorianne, who throws third, are fourth stone Rob Young, second Mark MacDonald, and lead Melody Beck.  The Davies foursome were runners-up in this event in 2008. Playing with Butler are skip Kyle Stevenson, second Doug MacGregor, and lead Tricia Affleck.

Play gets underway Thursday at 4.

Cornwall’s Veronica Smith team are competing in the M&M Meat Shops 15 and Under championships, which get underway Friday at 1 pm at the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton. Other members of the Smith rink are Katie Fullerton, Sabrina Smith, and Chloe McCloskey, with coaches Paul Smith and Sarah Fullerton. Jonathan Schut, who normally plays with Cornwall’s Jeff Taylor team, is playing on the Kyle Hughes rink for this event. The team also includes defending champions Matthew MacLean and Marshall Smallman from the Maple  Leaf Curling Club in O’Leary. As they also won the 17 and Under this year, only two players from that team are allowed on the same time for a lower age group competition.
