Cornwall’s Mitchell Schut rink wins opener in Island Petroleum Cashspiel at the Silver Fox, playing Cornwall’s Steve van Ouwerkerk team at 9 am

The annual Island Petroleum Cashspiel, open to Men’s, Women’s, Junior and Mixed teams, got underway Friday evening at the Silver Fox Entertainment Complex in Summerside, with 16 teams taking part. Draw times on Saturday are 9:00 am, and 12:30 and 4:00 pm, with the finals Sunday at 10:00 am. 

The Mitchell Schut junior team from here at the Cornwall Curling Club is among the entrants, and includes (L-R): Skip – Mitchell Schut,  Third – Chase MacMillan, Second – Cruz Pineau, and Lead – Liam Kelly. They won their opening game on Friday against the Andy Morris rink, and play again Saturday at 9 am against either the Steve van Ouwerkerk team, the other Cornwall entrant in the event.

The van Ouwerkerk team, who curl in our Tuesday competitive league, also includes Sam Ramsay, Nick van Ouwerkerk, and Pat Ramsay.
