Cornwall’s Veronica Smith rink advances to Curl Atlantic Ch’ship semi-finals

The Curl Atlantic Championship wraps up Sunday afternoon at the CARI Complex in Charlottetown. The 12 noon semi-finals in the men’s and women’s divisions are now determined, with the finals following at 4 pm.

Three of the four women’s semi-finalists are PEI rinks, with Suzanne Birt taking on Kathy O’Rourke, and Sylvie Robichaud from New Brunswick playing Cornwall’s Veronica Smith junior team, who were contacted at the last minute to fill in for a Newfoundland and Labrador rink who could not attend. O’Rourke and Robichaud finished round robin play undefeated with 4-0 win-loss records, while Smith and Birt went 3-1.

The men’s semi-finals feature three Nova Scotia teams, and one Island rink, with: Mark Dacey (3-1) playing Chad Stevens (2-2), and PEI”s Adam Casey (2-2) taking on Alan O’Leary (4-0).
