ICE…ICE …Baby ….
On this “Curling Day in Canada “it was music to our ears…as we overheard, right here at the Cornwall Curling Club (from a tremendously talented and experienced curler who is …’in the know’…)
‘This ice is as good as Brier ice right now’….. 
Boooooom !!
Over all of these years so many people have worked very hard to create the best conditions for our curlers!
This is no easy task to accommodate with an array of talent (beginners, club curlers, competitive and elite curlers) with sometimes challenging conditions ( too warm, too much humidity, too much moisture….or conditions), but could also be perfect too!! ….
The ice has always been the priority of the club…
Lance created our ice right here in Cornwall for many years… and his knowledge and precision provided conditions that hundreds of curlers enjoyed for many many hours of curling. Lance was a legend and loved by so many. His service was not only as an ice maker , but as a community member.
Our current Ice technician, Brent, has felt challenged and demonstrated much passion and commitment to creating great ice!
Brent knows his stuff and it is like he has been making ice for many more years than 3 seasons!
Neither of these Ice Makers could do what they do without volunteers. Those who have shown up at the start of every season for seven to ten days and volunteer to help get our ice installed and ready to go for the season ahead!
These individuals over the years have been many….and were, and are, cherished….
Especially now as our volunteer numbers for ice support have dwindled over these years.
Our hard-working Ice Makers could also not made have made it through the long hours of ice making without great help from assistants to scrape, and “pebblers”…. those who volunteer their time or accept a little honorarium, to make sure our ice is in top condition when our Ice Makers could not be.

The ice use has increased steadily over the years … and one of those reasons has been, no doubt because our ice is friendly to all!
The ice has been, and is, made with heart and passion ….and with an important respectful obligation and commitment to our membership.
We also must share our enthusiasm and successful ice conditions over all of these years with our partners in recreation, The Town of Cornwall. The Town takes such pride in all of their sport and leisure offerings, and curling is no different ~ they ensure that our equipment is to be relied upon, and that they work with us to provide recreation to over 500 users per week.

And one last secret about our ice…
There has been, as we said in 2020, many sweet vibes placed lovingly into our fresh ice.
A sweet symphony by way of music … of course!
Our ice has seen a little catchy 50’s and 60’s throwbacks, some of stellar 70’s grooves, lots of awesome 80’s jams, some very iconic 90’s grunge, and a little 2000+’s beats… and maybe a little country too!
But our little secret these past three seasons …?
Our ‘smarty pants’ Ice Technician, Brent, is ensuring that lots of special magical ice vibes and love is making its way into our crisp and shiny ice surface….

some intense and passionate CLASSICAL music!

The beautiful orchestrated sounds sending tidings and sweet hope into our ice for hope of the best ice…!
