Round three of the Wednesday night ladder league, sponsored by Cornwall Pizza Delight, wrapped up last night, with round four, sponsored by Clyde River Golf Links, running March 14 through April 11.
Three teams, skipped by Gord Peters, Karen Currie, and Bob MacWilliams, finished with 3-2 win-loss records in the six team A pool, with the Currie rink beating both of the other teams in their round robin encounters, so they will win the round. Peters, who beat MacWilliams in their game, will come second. Two teams will move down the ladder to the B pool for the final round. Three teams had two wins, with the Greg Groves rink losing a game by default, and thus have one point less, so they will be one of the teams. The other two teams were skipped by Paul Neima and Kris Currie, with Neima beating Currie in their game, so Neima will remain in the A pool, while Kris Currie will drop to the B. While MacWilliams will remain in the A pool for the final round, the team is able to play only the first two games in the final round (MacWilliams himself is available to spare after that), so there will be a bye in the last three weeks for the A pool, which will contain eight teams in the final round.
The Bob Fowler rink finished in first place in the B pool, managing to eke out wins in all of their games. The Angus Kennedy rink lost only to Fowler, and are second. The Kelly Watts rink lost only to Kennedy (they didn’t play Fowler), and are in third place. These three teams will move up the ladder to the A pool for the final round, as will the fourth place team. Three teams, skipped by Ray Biagé, Aaron Campbell, and Joerg Soltermann all had two wins. In round robin play, Biagé beat Campbell, and Campbell beat Soltermann, but Soltermann did not play Biagé, so we had to go to total points. Biagé had 30, Campbell had 27, and Soltermann had 32, so Soltermann will be moving up.

My team defeated Karen Currie on the first night of this round. Cograts to the rest of my teammates for such a good round. Not bad considering we went 0-5 last time in the A pool.
Bob can have the win, but I didnt lose that game. We were finished the 7 end before the buzzer was sounded….with time to spare. Lets be honest
I was not going to reply to what Angus had said but it seems someones honesty is in question and i would like to set the record straight. On the night we played Angus’s team at 6:30 there was only his mate that was there ready to curl at 6:30 and no other memeber of the team so mate made the comment that it is a forefited game but he would still like to play. We managed to find three more players and started the game and Angus showed up 13 mins. late and the other member of his team showed up at 7pm. We continued to play and spares that were picked up went to other teams and when the last rock was thrown in the 7th end buzzer sounded which meant the game was over. There was a measurement that had to take place to see if we counted two ( which we didn’t ) and i went to shake Angus’s hand and he refused to shake and said we are playing the end. I had no intentions of playing the end but got my teammateds to throw their rocks as they had to come down to that end of the house anyway. When it came to my rocks i refused to throw them and stated to Angus good game without shaking hands as he didn’t want to shake mine.
Now i wasn’t the one who put down the win for our team, that would be the draw master on Wednesday night who was there at the time. Second the rules state that if a rock hasn’t been thrown in the next end when the buzzer sounds the game is over ( no rock had been thrown for the 8th end ) and seeing that I am a board member i like to stick to the rules. The rules were put in place so ice man could get ice ready for next draw so they would not be late in starting. Like i say I’m a board member and i want to follow rules and lead by example.
Sorry this is a long comment but thought it should be explained and when someones honesty is questioned i feel an answer is required. Now i see Angus and i play again on Wednesday evening so he can get his revenge at that time, see you there hope everyone is on time.
