Kenmac Spiel another big success – Gauthier rink were the winners

The annual Kenmac Energy Funspiel was held this past weekend and, once again, it was a big success!

Twenty-four teams took to the ice on Friday night to play 6 end games. Off ice, the curlers were treated to mussels from PEI Aqua Farms, and very lively music by the group called Tip-Er-Back. The energetic musical talents of club member Jeff Taylor were also greatly appreciated and enjoyed by all!!!

Before starting the Saturday morning games, coffee and a selection of delicious muffins compliments of Country Style, were available for all curlers.  Lunch was a variety of great pizzas from Pizza Delight. During the afternoon games, tickets were sold on “Chase the Ace” with Laurie Kelly winning a total of $150.00. Trivia was also played, and the Gauthier team became the “masterminds”. The curlers then enjoyed a very tasty chicken dinner with all the trimmings from KFC.

Four additional teams, 16 curlers, were randomly drawn to also receive gift certificates – Barry Craswell, Len Cudmore, Eric LeBlanc and Donna Bernard were the lucky recipients. Kenmac Energy also provided toques, caps and t-shirts as extra prizes.

Cornwall Curling Club is very fortunate to have such a generous and long term sponsor as Kenmac Energy for this annual event. A big THANK YOU is extended to Gordon Matthews of Kenmac, and to all the curlers who came out to support the club. Remember Kenmac for all your home energy needs – oil propane, and furnace service, too. They are the P.E.I. distributor for Petro-Canada products and are the only P.E.I. propane company with a P.E.I. office. Also, be sure to visit Mel’s, your convenient one-stop shop for snacks, a delicious lunch on-the-go, including Country Style, Mr. Sub, and Thai Express, Petro Canada and Shell (North River) gas, and more. Click for locations.

An event such as this could not be held without the assistance of Bev our Club Manager, Lance the “Ice Man”, Ray our custodian, our bartenders Kelly and Al, and many volunteers. Cheers to everyone!!!
