New and returning curlers: be sure to check out our Pro Shop for all your curling equipment needs!

It’s great to see all our new curlers out on the ice learning the “roaring game”! This is a gentle reminder that, although you are welcome to use our brooms and sliders for a short time to help you get started, just like golf and other sports we encourage you to get your own equipment as soon as possible to reduce wear and tear on our Club gear, which is intended for “Learn to Curl” programs and rentals, and not for regular Club use. Our well-stocked Pro Shop has a great assortment of curling gear, and our Club staff can help you select what is appropriate for your curling needs.
Also, stay tuned for info on a planned “Curling Equipment Exchange” in the near future!

Our Pro Shop (photo not taken this year), including:

centre, from the top down: stabilizers, helmets, protective headgear, brush pads, gloves, stopwatches, display shoes (we keep our shoe inventory in back), grippers

left side: curling pants,

right side: brushes and delivery sticks

In general, you require:

A curling brush/broom. We have a variety of models, with fiberglass or lighter-weight carbon fibre handles, and pads that may be easily replaced when they wear.

Curling shoes with integrated gripper and slider, and an additional gripper to cover your sliding foot when not delivering a rock OR
Regular shoes with a good grip (add a slip-on gripper if the grip is not good enough) PLUS a slip-on slider (you can also get Teflon sliders that glue onto regular shoes. In general, dedicated curling shoes will suit your needs much better. We also recommend you replace your gripper annually to prevent the possible shedding of rubber onto the ice surface.

Non-slip curling gloves (resemble a golf glove, but you get a pair of them for around the same price as the ONE you get in golf!).

Curling or other stretchy pants. We have a variety of curling pants on display.

Optional:
– a delivery aid such as The Stabilizer to improve your balance as you slide out of the hack OR a “delivery stick” if you are a “stick curler” and deliver from a standing position instead of sliding from the hack.- a stopwatch to time your team’s shots (more common in our more competitive leagues)- a CSA-approved helmet or other protective headgear (we have baseball caps, toques. headbands and other styles available that are specifically designed to reduce injury in the event of a fall) is recommended but not required for those over age 12.

Remember that good equipment improves your game and helps to prevent injuries, too!
