The Closing Spiel, sponsored by Leary’s Independent Grocer in Cornwall got underway on Friday evening, with one complete draw round played, using a skins format. At the end of round one, the Reds are leading the Blues by a mere $6000. The stakes get higher on Saturday, with each end worth twice as much, so it shouldn’t take long for Blue to make up the difference! Draw 2 goes Saturday morning, with four end games, while a draw of six end games will wrap up the curling in the afternoon. Trivia points from Friday evening are also factored in. Don’t forget the wrapup dance, from 8-11 on Saturday evening following the banquet and prizes, featuring TIP ‘ER BACK. All are welcome – $5 cover for those not entered in the bonspiel.
