Team UPEI, skipped by Veronica Smith, wins 3rd straight berth in CIS Cdn. Championships!

It will be three years in a row for Team UPEI, skipped by Cornwall Veronica Smith, at the 2015 CIS/CCA Canadian University Curling Championships, this time in Waterloo ON, March 18-21, hosted by Wilfred Laurier University. The UPEI Panther team won the berth by winning the Subway AUS Championship semi-final this morning, 7-2 over St. FX, The top two teams from the AUS championships advance to the CIS. The other berth goes to the first place team, St. Mary’s, skipped by Sara Spafford.

The UPEI women’s team includes skip Veronica Smith, third Jane DiCarlo, second stone Emily Gray, and lead Aleya Quilty with coach Paul Smith (Veronica’s father). UPEI and first place SMU square off for the Atlantic University Sports title at 1 pm at the Montague Curling Club, and on livestream at http://live.streamit.ca/?player=51&eventid=37000

The two men’s rinks at the CIS Championships will be from SMU and  UNB. SMU won the semi 9-6 over DAL this morning., and play 1st place UNB in the AUS final at 1.
