Two Cornwall junior curlers among three recipients of PEI Curling Hall of Fame Bursaries

 

Gallant

Alex Gallant of Summerside is studying Civil Engineering at UNB in Fredericton and is the recipient of a $1000 bursary. His list of curling accomplishments in two provinces includes:

Reigning New Brunswick provincial junior champion
2-time PEI provincial U18 champion, and 2015 U18 Atlantic bronze medalist
Two-time AUS silver medalist with UNB, winning bronze and 5th place at nationals

Volunteer activities include former U13 team coach, President of the UNB Curling Club, and volunteer curling instructor.

 

MacKenzie

Colin MacKenzie of Graham’s Road, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at St. Mary’s University in Halifax, is the recipient of a $500 bursary. His curling accomplishments as a member of the Mitchell Schut team from the Cornwall Curling Club include:

Member of Team PEI at the Canada Games, 2-time PEI U18 winner, provincial U16 winner, 
Fairplay Award winner at the Canadian U18 Championships.

Volunteer activities include helping lead the floor curling at Special Olympics leadership sessions.

 

Rogers

Cornwall Curling Club member Kristie Rogers of New Haven is in the Bachelor of Arts program at UPEI, and received a $1000 bursary. Her accomplishments as third stone with her team skipped by Lauren Lenentine include:

2-time Provincial Junior Women’s champions, runners-up at the PEI Scotties, provincial U18  and U16 champs.

Volunteer activities include instructing junior and adult curlers here at the Cornwall Curling Club.
