Tyler Smith rink from Crapaud/Montague wins men’s section, Cornwall’s Meghan Ching team wins women’s consolation at Codiac Jr. Spiel

Team Tyler Smith from PEI’s Montague and Crapaud curling clubs won the 14th  Annual Codiac Curling Maritime Junior Bonspiel Under 21 men’s division this week-end in Moncton, NB. The team finished with a 5-1 win-loss record, outlasting Team Matthew Manuel from the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax by stealing the final end in a 7-6, two-extra-ends game Sunday afternoon.

Eight PEI teams were entered in the event.

Matthew MacLean and his Charlottetown Curling Complex team won the Boys U21 Consolation, while Meghan Ching and her Cornwall Curling Club rink, which includes third Rachel O’Connor, second Lauren Lenentine, and lead Breanne Burgoyne, with coach Pat Quilty, won the Girls U21 Consolation, finishing the weekend with a 3-3 win-loss record.

Cornwall’s Veronica Smith team had a 1-3  record for the weekend, with their win being a 7-2 victory over the Ching foursome. Other team members are Chloe McCloskey, Sabrina Smith, and Katie Fullerton, with coaches Bill Hope and Paul Smith.
