Both the UPEI Men and UPEI Women, skipped by Sabrina Smith, with all four members from the Cornwall Curling Club, had 3-3 round robin records, but only the men advanced to the playoff round, where they lost 8-5 to 1st place Memorial in the semi-finals, but managed to grab the third and final AUS men’s spot in the nationals by winning the Bronze Medal game. Memorial went on to double Dalhousie 10-5 in eight ends to win the Gold Medal game.
The St. FX women’s rink, which includes PEI native Lauren MacFadyen, downed St. FX 9-3 to capture the women’s Gold medal, while UNB beat Mt. A 8-3 to win the Bronze medal match and the third AUS women’s playoff berth at the nationals.
