Watch on livestream now: Cornwall’s Veronica Smith and Team UPEI advance to 9 am semi at AUS Ch’ships in Montague

The UPEI Women’s team, skipped by Cornwall Curling Club member Veronica Smith, finished round robin play last night in second place, with a 3-1 win-loss record at the UPEI-hosted Subway Atlantic University Sport Curling Championship in Montague, and have earned a berth in the 9 am semi-finals, against third place St. FX (2-2). The winner will go on to face  undefeated Saint Mary’s in the final, scheduled for 1 pm. Other members of Team UPEI are Jane DiCarlo, Emily Gray, and Aleya Quilty, with coach Paul Smith.

UPEI beat St. FX 9-3 in their round robin encounter, but lost 7-6 to SMU in an extra end in an extremely tight contest. They doubled DAL 10-5 and downed UNB 10-3 in their other games.

SMU takes on DAL in the 9 am Men’s semi, with the winner playing UNB in the 1 pm final.

The top two men’s teams and top two women’s teams will advance to the 2015 CIS-CCA University Championship in Waterloo, Ontario from March 18-21, 2015.
