We are excited to once again be hosting the Masters Plus bonspiel at the club this Thursday and Friday, November 20-21.
We have six off-Island teams, a team from our sister club in Summerside, and nine Cornwall teams this year.
In addition to the great curling, this event provides a great time for curlers around the Maritimes to connect and socialize.
Special thanks to the Masters Plus Committee of Paul Dorsey, Ken Harrott, Linda Fairhurst, Gloria Turner, Debbie Rhodenhizer for once again helping this event come together!
PRACTICE:
There will be a short practice time before Thursday morning draws only. Both teams will share the ice at the same time (like GSOC practices). Red rocks throw the in turn, yellow rocks throw the out turn. Each player will throw one rock down and back.
LAST STONE DRAW (LSD):
The second tiebreaker for event placement will be based on a pre-tournament LSD at the end of the practice. Skips will throw the LSD, sweepers for throwing team are allowed, opponents cannot sweep.
COIN TOSS FOR HAMMER:
A coin toss will be used for hammer before each game. Please toss using the coin containers on the tables inside the club lounge before heading onto ice to save time.
ROCKS:
The highest team number (1-16) gets yellow rocks, lower number gets red rocks.
EVENT SCORING:
We will be using win, loss, and tie records to determine event placement. A win is worth 3 points, a tie is worth 1 point, a loss is worth 0 points.
Event tiebreakers: 1st: Head-to-Head (if applicable), 2nd: LSD, 3rd: Coin toss
TIME LIMIT:
Due to the tight nature of the schedule each game is limited to 2 hours. A buzzer will sound when 15 minutes remain. You may finish the end you are
playing but cannot start another end. NOTE: An end officially starts when the first rock has been thrown, not when the previous end finishes.
PRIZES:
Prizes will be awarded to the TOP FOUR teams – additionally, we will have a few door prize drawings throughout the event.
We want to thank our sponsors for their generosity.
FOOD/DRINK:
We will provide a hot lunch on Thursday, while Friday’s lunch will feature chili and a roll.
Each curler gets one drink ticket included in their packet.
