The ice is looking much better after the midseason flood and maintenance.
However, we want it to STAY that way.
We are instituting some more ice cleaning procedures to help in the second half, but you can help by being sure to wash your grippers and headcovers before you return to play!
For example, I found these two grippers in the lost and found.
BOTH are in bad shape!
One is so old it’s literally falling apart and ripping. This means the rubber is weak and is likely flaking onto the ice.

The other isn’t falling apart, but its starting to show its age – it’s got a few spots that might start affecting grip – but the inside has A LOT of built up crud in it.

Did you realize that a large portion of the stuff that gets on the ice comes from INSIDE your gripper?
While it’s important to keep the outside clean and use the boot cleaners on the way into the ice rink, if the inside of your gripper looks like this that means every time you take off your gripper you are adding to the dirtiness of the ice.
So let’s all take a few minutes and clean our broom heads and grippers – or if needed to purchase a new one in the pro shop!
Thanks in advance!!!
