The provincial curling championship season comes to a close with two events this weekend — the Travelers Curling Club Championship, for men’s and women’s teams who have won their respective club championships, and the Advantage Communications / Curl PEI Junior Mixed, for mixed (two male, 2 female players) teams under the age of 21. Cornwall has both a men’s and a women’s team in the Travelers, and representatives on four out of the five junior mixed teams.
The Travelers takes place at the Crapaud Community Curling Club from Friday through Monday, while the Junior Mixed will be played at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside from Friday through Sunday. Live results from both championships will be available at CurlAtlantic.com/scoreboard.
PEI Travelers Curling Club Ch’ship
The Provincial Travelers Curling Club Championship, for winners of the men’s and women’s Travelers championships from PEI curling facilities, will be held at the Crapaud Community Curling Club March 27-30 2015. The provincial Travelers will use a round robin format with a Draw Scoring System instead of tiebreaking games. Games are eight ends. Men’s teams are entered from all seven PEI curling facilities, while there are five women’s rinks entered, from Western, the Silver Fox, Crapaud, Cornwall, and Montague. Winning teams will advance to the national Travelers Curling Club Championship, November 23-28, 2015 at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club, in Ottawa Ontario.

A team based Draw Scoring System will be done after the first game. Each team, starting with the lead, will deliver a draw for points. Total score will be used to break ties at the end of the round robin. (same as National) (5 for button, 4 for 4ft., 3 for 8ft., 2 for 12ft., 1 for free guard zone)
Round robin draws go Friday through Sunday at 11 am, 3 pm, and 7 pm. The championship round goes Monday with the second and third place teams from the round robin squaring off at 11 am. The winner will face the first place team from the round robin at 3 pm. In the event that a team goes through the round robin undefeated, and then loses the 3 pm game, an extra game will take place between the two finalists, at 7 pm.
Championship round and schedule. There is a separate draw tree for men’s and women’s events.
