Little Rock/Novice age try curling! Welcome to new members Aiden and Craig Savill!

Sunday was a super fun day at the Cornwall Curling Club as we welcomed a fantastic group of children under the age of 13 to try the very cool (literally!) game of curling!

Our very own Junior Members Ella Lenentine and Kacey Gauthier (who have been curling at our club since they were in the ‘Little Rockers’ and ‘Novice’ Programs!) lead over 15 children with some warm-up exercises to start the session. Thank you Ella and Kacey for showing us some fun warm-up exercises!

This enthusiastic group of kids then joined Ella and Kacey, along with our coaching team for the day~ Landon, Clara, Shauna, and Greg, to learn all about curling!

They threw some rocks, practiced some slides, shared some “air” high fives, and more!

While the children were on the ice, ‘Board Member and Curling Development Chair’ Bill McGuire welcomed families to the club, reviewed the ‘Little Rockers’ and ‘Novice’ programs, and discussed some of our safety protocol.

Bill also welcomed a new Novice curler to our club, Aiden Savill!
Aiden has a great slide~ and we know why….

Aiden’s Dad (and new club member!) is elite curler Mr, Craig Savill! Of course, Craig is very well known in the curling community as a World and Brier champion!

Welcome to the Club, Aiden and Craig!

The children ended the day with a cool down (and learned from Ella that a cool down is important so we don’t get sore after curling!)

And then… well… it was time for some super yummy ice cream!!

Thank you to the children for coming out Sunday to try the game of curling!
We hope to see you all on the ice!

Thank you to all of our volunteers and coaches … you ROCK!
