While the PEI Scotties Tournament of Hearts Provincial Women’s Curling Championship has not yet been held (it goes Jan. 29 to 31 in O’Leary), one Islander is already set to compete at the national Scotties, which takes place February 19 to 28 at the Markin McPhail Centre in Calgary Alberta.

O’Leary native and former Iqaluit resident Alison Griffin (now back on PEI), who was one of our Cornwall Curling Club teams this past weekend at the PEI Mixed Doubles championship, is slated to curl for Team Nunavut again this year at the event, Nunavut did not hold a competition this year and is sending the same team as last year. This will be Griffin’s third time representing Nunavut at the Scotties.

PEI’s representatives will be either the Suzanne Birt rink, who curls out of both the Montague and Cornwall curling clubs, or Montague’s Darlene London team. Team Birt represented the Island last year.
