RED & YELLOW BONSPIEL
The annual closing spiel is one of the biggest and busiest weekends of the curling season.
Activities actually begin earlier in the week with junior curlers and our daytime stick curlers having their own Red & Yellow activities – culminating in the weekend spiel event.
After many years as the Red & Blue, with the purchase of new handles for the new rocks, last year the event was rechristened the Red & Yellow.
It is a weekend full of full, laughs, some great curling and thanks to the skins format – the final winner almost always comes down to the last draw!
There’s also a banquet on Saturday at lunch time – including presentation of the club’s Volunteer of the Year Award.
Members are assigned a colour when they first register for the event – and they remain that colour over the seasons (with rare exceptions, when players need to switch to balance out teams, etc).
A lot of good natured ribbing continues throughout the following season as the defending champs enjoy an entire year of glory!

The Yellow team won the first Red & Yellow Bonspiel by a score of 611,000 to 560,000!
The cost for the weekend – curling and banquet – is $40.

We are encouraging all members to Pay It Forward by donating blood, time, or money to the Canadian Blood Services or Canadian Cancer Society between now and the Red & Yellow.
The team with the most individuals who donate and confirm (either by emailing the manager or marking it down on the donation page at the club) will receive a bonus 10,000 points for their team’s cumulative score!
