The Village Green Club Curling Cashspiel concluded on Sunday, marking a second consecutive Championship for a team from Nova Scotia. The action-packed day started with two intense quarterfinal matches, setting the stage for an exciting finish.

In one quarterfinal, Peter Rousseau’s team pulled off a thrilling comeback against Eddie MacKenzie’s rink. Down by one without the hammer, Rousseau managed to steal three points in the final end, clinching a spot in the semifinals against Travis Stone’s team from Sydney, Nova Scotia. Meanwhile, Michelle Armstrong’s squad from Lakeshore Curling Club—featuring Julie McEvoy, Abby Miller, and Kathleen Porter—narrowly advanced to the quarters with a nail-biting 7-centimeter differential in cumulative DTB. However, their momentum was halted by Shelly Bradley’s team, who played strong throughout the game, to secure their place in the semi finals.

In the semifinal round, Travis Stone’s well-rested team dominated, wrapping up their game after just four ends. In the other semifinal, Bradley’s rink fought hard against their clubmates, Team Yogi’s, in a game that lasted roughly 2.5 hours, with multiple stones in play each end. Bradley sealed the win with a skillful 10-foot angle raise double to score three points in the eighth end. Earning the nickname “The Cardio Kids,” Bradley’s team had already played three games on Saturday before heading into the final against Stone.

The final saw Stone’s team—composed of Kurt Roach, Mark MacNamara, and Robin Nathanson—came out strong once more, scoring three points in the first end and stealing two in the second. The game concluded in the fifth end with Stone hitting for three, securing an 8-1 victory over Bradley and her “Cardio Kids.”

A huge thank you to Ron and the ice crew for their dedication in maintaining top-notch ice conditions throughout the weekend. Special appreciation also goes to the bar staff for keeping the players refreshed and to the Cornwall Curling Club for hosting what promises to be one of the Maritimes’ premier club curling events.
