Special Olympics Canada Team of the Year
(they are also one of the 3 finalists tonight for the Sport PEI Team of the Year.)
In February 2012 the team, which curled regularly out of the Cornwall Curling Club, were gold medalists at the 2012 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games. In May they were named PEI Curling’s Team of the Year. On Thursday, November 29 in Toronto, these curlers and their coaches received their award as 2012 Special Olympics Canada’s Team of the Year.

CIS/CCA Champonships
The UPEI Panthers, skipped by Veronica Smith of Cornwall, won one of the two qualifying spots from the Atlantics for the CIS-CCA Curling Championships in Kamloops, where they finished with a 2-5 win-loss record.

The Holland College Hurricanes were national competitors at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association curling championship, at the Avonair Curling Club in Edmonton AB, where they finished with a 2-5 record.

PEI Junior Mixed
Cornwall players captured both divisions at the Advantage Communications PEI Junior Mixed Ch’ship.
The James Dalton combined team from the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club in Summerside, and the Cornwall Curling Club, won the three-team double round robin Under 16 division, while the The two-team Best of 5 Under 21 division championship was won by the Kyle Holland rink from the Charlottetown Curling Complex and the Cornwall Curling Club.

Jonathan Schut won the Joan Mead men’s award, Katie Fullerton was second team all-star lead, and Sabrina Smith was a Mixed Doubles bronze medallist at the M&M Meat Shops Canadian Juniors.

Team UPEI, which consists of Cornwall Curling Club members Veronica Smith, Jane DiCarlo, Emily Gray, and Aleya Quilty won the Atlantic University Championships, advanced to the CIS Championship in Kamloops BC.
